I have seen XD's break more than Glocks and I have been around a lot more Glocks in my career. The XD's that broke were in IDPA matches one belonged to a poster here. The extractor broke. I have seen that on 3 XD guns. I have also seen the magazine base plates break when the mags are dumped. XD's are good guns but I prefer Glocks they have a more proven track record and I prefer the Glocks trigger because of the shorter reset.

Question XD vs. Glock tolerances

I like the xd 45 I have I still carry the glock 30 daily. May switch some day but my only concern with the XD is being able to get parts and do the work on it yourself if something breaks. Like with glock there isn't one part you can't get and replace yourself the XD's have to sent in to get fixed. Does anyone think this part avail. will ever get better for the XD's?

Yup. They're getting very popular. My recollection is one winner of IDPA nationals used an XD (don't remember the classification).

Also a few LE agencies are starting to use them.

The more demand there is for parts, the more parts will be available.

Also, always have more guns. If one breaks, you have a back up. If God forbid you have to defend yourself, the cops will take it as evidence right at a time when you now have the perp's friends going to want to find you and kill you.

If you have a contingency plan you won't care that one gets sent back to the factory for repair.

I have thought about that its nice to have several guns to fall back on and I guess there is a life time warranty on the XD's as well. I always switch off carrying glocks like g30 to g21,23 what ever I feel like or the situation calls for. it's hard when you have trusted your life and family's life to one brand of gun to switch I have been shooting my Xd for awhile now I shoot it as well or better than my glocks I guess it's just that Dependability factor.
