CCI Shotshells ok to use in XD40?

First off,
I've been coming to this site for awhile. I've learned alot of good information about XDs (Add-Ons ect..) so I thought i'd join up.

Anyways,
Just curious if the CCI shotshells are ok to use in a XD40?.
I know in the manual it mentions something about it not liking anything other than good factory ammo. And I know in a glock, they seem to be ok but you have to cycle them manually, which I figure you would have to do in a XD as well.

I mainly just want them for a quick shot against rattlesnakes and whatnot on trails that I walk but I don't want to mess up the barrel/rifling or anything.

Thanks for any feedback.

I dunno about .40

But I use it on occasion in my .45 compact.

I don't really practice at the range with it... and have only put maybe 10 rounds of it thru.

But there has not been any visible scarring or damage...

I would say it's "okay" but that is simply based off of a really uneducated opinion.

They should be perfectly fine. Only gun you should not use them in is one with a ported barrel because the shot will go through ported holes at the end of the barrel.

What are these useful for? I've heard people mention shooting snakes, but is there any other good reason to use them? What is the effective range?

Thanks guys.

As far as the use, I've used the .22 shotshells on mice in a house once with good results. It didn't damage anything but killed the mice.
I'm always walking trails/fields and figure a .40 of these would be decent for a quick shot if you had to against rattlesnakes and such which I've had to deal with many times in the past.

And I would imagine you could take down quail if you walked up on a covey and were super close with a .40/44mag/45 version of these. That actually sounds like more fun/sportier to me than using 12/20 gauges but not sure about the law.

I remember one time my buddy had some 22 shotshell in his Ruger 10/22 and put an empty cell phone box that had cardboard and foam inside it.

He decided to shoot the box which also went through his blinds and almost the window.

I guess a 22 pistol would have been better.

This may not have anything to do with .40 cal shotshells but I recently saw an add on for air pistols. You load table salt in it and you can use your air gun like mini rat shot.

Welcome to the forum, quickdraw.

This room doesn't see nearly as much traffic as the other sections of the forum, so you may want to start a new thread under the "General Discussion HS2000/XD" section. Using the Search function for threads about laser units could also be helpful. Again, welcome.
