xd breakdown

How hard is it to completely disassemble an xd .40? and how hard is it to put back together? I am thinking about having tripp chrome some parts and would rather not send the whole lower unit or the entire gun.

when you romove the pin that holds the sear and ejucter in only remove it part way and take the tension off the spring or it will fly off
the first time i take it apart i do it inside of a clear garbage bag or something like that so i cant lose any parts
pm me if you have any questions it really isnt that hard at all

There's a video I saw other posts on XDTalk. You can buy it on eBay for $20, search "Springfield XD" and you'll find it.

The grip safety is easy to remove and can be a bit hard to put back. Htown posted a nice trick to putting back in. The mag release is another one, there is a way to remove the mag release without taking the spring out, that's the way you want to go. If you completely remove the pin, plate an spring it will take a while to put it back in. Took me about 2 hours, but I'm old and can't see very well up close.

Grip safety reassemble go about halfway down on page two.

Lenny McGill's "Complete Springfield XD Disassembly/Assembly" is the DVD I own and its a great reference tool for first timers and even people who haven't done it in a while.

Lenny McGill

I have the Lenny McGill DVD also. Great learning tool and when you get stuck you can re-play or stop it and get a gander at what he did so you can get it the same angle, hand position...whatever. Here's the site:
