Hope it's OK to dredge up an old topic rather than start a new one, but here goes:
When I first started reading about XDs (XD-40 in particular) I read some topics from '05 or so that indicated "special tools" were needed to disassemble the gun, and that all repairs needed to be done via Springfield. I've had just about every gun I own completely disassembled at one point or another during my ownership, including revolvers. Is this "special tool" deal still the case with current production XDs, or was it a pipe dream in the first place? Based on the links above it doesn't look all that much more complex than disassembling other pistols. Thanks in advance, -- Sam |

No special tools need. If you want to completely disassemble it it helps to have a pick or a small scewdriver bent in an L shape at the end, it helps you remove the extractor.
