Take dowm lever tearing the H#$@ out of my left thumb
Hi All I just got a new to me XD-9 Tac this is my third XD and love them.
But the way I shot I use the Shaw grip and lay my thumbs down the side of the frame and the take down lever just tears up my Left thumb on recoil. My Question is there any after market parts makers that have a rounded odr slimed down take down lever? It just seems to thick and squared at the end. Thanks Dave

Awww, drop the purse and just shoot it!
Just kidding- The same thing happened to me when I improved my grip with a forward wrist roll. Funny thing is, I can't honestly say what I did to change it- but it's fine now. I think maybe I'm just not exerting as much pressure on that take down lever as I was, or my left thumb is just positioned a tiny bit different than it was. If you mess around with your grip a bit, you might find you can work with it.

Frankly, that one mystifies me as the 9mm XD's hardly have any recoil but Dirk is right; Keep shooting it and your hands will adjust to the problem. I have seen the same thing with 1911 safeties and the tang on Sig P220's and the problem just seems to go away with a few range sessions. Use a small piece of billiard chalk to rough up the ridges of your thumb...it will help a little bit to maximize friction.
