Slipping grip
If my grip slips during firing, does that mean I'm squeezing too tight or not tight enough?
Last weekend, I kept noting that in longer strings of rounds (5-6 rounds) my thumbs would start to slip out of place and I'd have to re-adjust to maintain a correct position. This happen to anyone else? What are the remedies? joe

if it's not from sweaty hands you can stagger your weak hand thumb a little further down the slide toward the muzzle and this can help stabilize your weapon for double taps and quick fire...pay attention to the pressure you put against the weapon and check to make sure you don't push your rounds to the side of your aiming point.
If it is because of sweaty hands I baught a set of sticker type grips off ebay for my .40 tactical and they are great. They provide a good grip surface and really don't add any bulk. I paid 7 or 8 dollars with shipping and have been to the range several times not to mention everyday duty carry and they still look good. The ones I bought were already cut to fit my weapon.

Springer Precision has a video of the proper grip to use, also try Tru-Grips or similiar..

Hog,
Do you CCW? If so, do you find that the decal grip tape grabs your clothes? I was looking at these and I'm not sure if I'd be able to carry with them or not because the "sandpaper tape" generally likes to hold onto fleece (my cover garment). Maybe I need to change my cover garment. I'll be looking at the grip advice. Thanks. joe

Some guys like the decal grips & such.
I find them a bit too rough. I'm having Jess at www.ontargetcgw.com do his pimp stippling job on mine. Not rough to the touch, but very high traction grip: Also did some high clearance relief trimming under the front trigger guard and rear ducktail for a higher hand hold on the gun.

I must be the only one that thinks the stipling is the ugliest thing you can do to your gun.
Tru Grips are not all that rough, But they will probably grab ahold of the fleese material and you'll have dust bunnies in your grip. You got to make a sacrafice somewhere...

I have a pachmayr sleeve on my SC, it works good. I think its a #5 size
I have also used something called A-grip, like this one Worked great for CCW, cause its not rough or sticky, but the sweatier your hands get, the better your grip gets. It feels like really low pile velvet, and adds no thinkness to the grip, its very thin and applies easily, but you can peel it off (I did about a year later cause it was wearing through) and it doesn't leave sticky residue or anything.

I would say likely it is a proper grip problem rather than a grip tension problem. But all I did was read the first post so take that any way you want. Take a look at Scott's video.
PS: I have Scott's X-Grip and it kicks a whole lot of ass over stippling or grip tape. Others have vouched for this as they handled my XD. Of course I wouldn't recommend it for a CCW grip.
