XD9 Compact vs. M&P 9mm Compact?
I'm ready to purchase a new CCW at this point and narrowed my list down to either a S&W M&P 9mm Compact or a Springfield XD9 Compact. I've read all the review and plan to make my final decision based on the "touch & feel" method at this week's Oregon Gun Show. However, I thought I’d ask this forum for last minute inputs/thoughts.
If this topic has already been covered by another post if you can point me to it that would be helpful. THANK YOU! Note: I've tried to months now to shoot both guns prior to purchase but it hasn't worked out so I plan to purchase without actual firing either unit.

Having held the XD 40 and M&P 40 in each hand at one table, the XD seems like a better gun. I just didn't like the feel of the grip of the M&P.

Well, lets see-
This is an XD forum, so I'm gonna go out on a limb and saaaaaaayyy, get the XD! Honestly, I do think both guns have their strong points. I've shot several different M&P's, and I've shot and owned a bunch of XD's. Personally, I easily prefer the XD. YMMV.

I handled the M&P this weekend at the gunshop and it is a nice gun but if I had to pick between the XD and the M&P I would go with the XD. But since I already have an XD I would think of purchasing the M&P.

i had narrowed it down to the same two you're considering, and after handling them both, i chose the XD also. i just didn't like the way the M&P felt in my hand. after doing a bit of research on them both, i don't think you'd make a mistake choosing either one. just take whichever you feel more comfy with.

They're both good guns. Lots of people who owned XDs are raving about the M&P. Agree with just get what you like -- shoot it --- and report back!
If these are your options you'll be happy either way. |

Like one guy said, "I'll get a M&P when they get all the Sigma out of it".
The first two I had were horrible. Bad quality control.

Gee...I don't know. But seeing as how this is an XD forum...I think most of us would vote for the XD.

The S&W M&P eats babies.
