Question Any way of decocking the gun without dry firing it?

Few days ago, I got my brand new, straight from the IM Metal factory HS-9.
First impressions are great, spent some time on the range and it was a blast!

I wonder if it's possible to decock the gun without dry firing it? I know it's supposed to be dry-fire friendly but I'm just not too comfortable doing it everytime I'm about to put it in the safe.

Thanks for any help!

B

Nope, I don't think so. Buy some snap caps (dummy rounds) if you're worried about it.

Nope, the only way to decock the gun is to dry fire it.

Ok. I'm just going to use a snap caps instead. Thanks for the replies!

Not to harp on you, I've done it before, but I think this is the third or forth time this week a thread like this has been started. That's just what it feels like. Try the search function, if it's something that isn't a wildly unique question, it's probably been discussed. You might find your answer quicker that way rather than waiting for replies.

Actually, you can "decock" it without pulling the trigger. There is a gap in the back of the frame where you can put a small object (.050 allen wrench works) and depress the grip safety they push the sear down.

BUT...

Just pulling the trigger works fine.

Why would you want to do this when you can just pull the trigger? Who carries allen wrenches with them? Also, this still releases the striker, so you still get the effect of pulling the trigger? It's not technically a decocker in that it won't fire a round, it's just another way to get the striker to release, right?

Like I said, pulling the trigger works just fine and is by far the easiest. But it can be done as described also.

ie. You forget to put the trigger back in after a detail strip and put the slide back on. (I've had that actual call a couple of times.)

I didn't give it a check before posting. If that's really the case, I apologize for asking something that's been already answered few threads back.

No big deal, we all do it. You don't owe me or anyone an apology. I did it two days ago on another forum...
