Hello Fellow Members, I recently purchased a new XD40 Subcompact 3".
It came with Tritium night sights, and I just put on the Insight Technologies X2L light & laser combo.........besides holdsters and extended magazines, what else can I do to my XD to make it better???? I've seen lighter trigger jobs, ported barrels, Etc. for the 4" service and 5" tactical XD. But I can't find anything on the 3" Sub besides the extended mag release and clip extensions...........Anyone help would greatly be appreciated......Thanks Guys. |

hold your horses there big guy...
Answer this question and we'll help along the way on your upgrades: Q) What is the PRIMARY purpose of this gun? 1) Conceal Carry/Self Defense 2) In House/Home Defense 3) Competition (IDPA?) It DOES make a big difference to what you have done, to consider the purpose.

If you just want to blow cash put a high dollar finish on it. Never rusting is always good no matter what you will use it for.

Why buy a gun to mod it? Shoot 5,000 rounds through it then decide what you want to do with it.

The only thing I've done to my 45 compact was put on TFOs. I shot an XD40sc and didn't like the three dot white and I already knew I wanted night sights.
I'd like to shoot an XD that has had a trigger job on it and see how it feels before I shell out the money to get something done I don't particularly care for. |

you could get an aftermarket hogue grip. i dont have it yet, but my brother in law got me one in AZ for my xd-9 service model and is shipping it to me. they were $7 each. he put one on his and loves it. the only thing is the ones he got were for a glock (oops, dirty word) so you have to cut a notch for the palm saftey. but for $7 you can afford to mess up a couple times until you get it right.

Make it better by breaking it in. 5K rounds sounds about right.
