XD9 Finish

ive been doing a little research on the XD9s finish problems.. Ive read that the slide tends to rust easily with little time... ive also rad that springfield started using melonite on its XD45 models... any word on if they did that for the new XD9s.. if not anyone in the central florida area know of a good place to get a solid protective coating.

My understanding is, late in 2006, they began doing all of the slides in melonite. I also understand that slides showing excessing rusting, they may refinish the slide under warrenty (though you'll likely be responsible for shipping charges).

As to finishers in the CFL area, I don't know any professional places, but I know some friends that do it themselves.

thanks for the info... currently talking with a friend thats the range instructor for the sheriffs dept here.. hes giving me some info on a few places that will do the extra coating for a small charge...

as for the warranty.. well being that SA offers a lifetime warranty i highly hope that if it starts rusting that they will refinish it ... i tend to take very good care of all my firearms and give them all a very light coat of oil every 4 or so days

Sounds like you're set then. Hope you enjoy the XD, and might even see you at a local shoot
