New mag problem...

My newest mag won't drop free (even partially loaded). I am thinkin' it'll just take some time to get the mag and/or frame worn properly so the mag will work fine, but I'm not sure.

What is y'all's experience with this?

Is there a quick, easy, non-damaging way to wear the mag quickly so it'll work well? This is going to be my backup CC mag so I don't want any problems with it. It must work flawlessly.

Is it a Springfield magazine, or another brand?

Have you taken it out and shot it yet?

I have had this issue with new mags on my XD9 when the XD was still fairly new (less than 2k rounds). Loading, unloading, dropping, you name it did not do it. I was a bit worried, but I just took it out and ran about 200 rounds through it. I am not sure when it started, but by the end of it not one problem. To me it was weird since I did not have that problem with the two that came with it.

I got my XD with about 1000 rds through it already and have put at least 500 through it myself with few problems. But the new factory mag I bought sticks. Does not drop free.

Any advice on this particular problem? I have another factory mag that came with the pistol that performs flawlessly.

I have four factory magazines each for my XD9 and XD45. My XD40 has six. None of them have drop issues. Can you bring it back to the store and swap it out with another one on stock?

I would contact Springfield. The mag should not stick or bind.

I saved the receipt and packaging. Don't know if that particular store takes returns on mags. I'll try next time I'm in that area.

I will try contacting springfield about the problem.

Thanks for the ideas, guys.

Update:

Spoke with Springfield today. They said, "Send it back and we'll check it out and send you a new one." End of conversation.

I think I like being a Springfield customer. Now, if I could just get them to do that with the factory mags...

Hey, that brings to mind a question: both of my factory 10 rd. mags don't feed very well. 1 feeds horribly and I refuse to use it for anything besides snap caps. The other WAS my backup mag and will be until I get a new 12 rd. from SA. Has anyone had notable bad experience with 10 rd. factory mags (or bad experiences with SA mags in general)? If so, what might I do to remedy the situation? I would really like to have 4 fully functional mags. It'd give me that warm, fuzzy feeling.
