I don't have them yet, but I purchased the Trijicons for my XD .45 srevice. I'm just waiting for the wonderful paper work to go through so I can pick her up and bring her to the range. What to do what to do to past the time.

Thumbs up Night Sights

I am new to the XD Compact .45 and I have been researching nights sights. I have heard of the Dawson and Trijicon sights. I have also heard of the Heinie Straight Eight and XS Big Dot sights. I want to know if anyone has an opinion of the previously mentioned sights which would be best for a defensive handgun? I am leaning towards the Heinie and XS because there are fewer objects for me to look at when shooting. Any advice on this situation is appreciated.

Here is a video of my XD45 with TFO sights.

What you think of my TLR-2. I was aiming at the "hater".

I just bought the Trijicon sights for my XD40 Tac. Thanks for the recommendations...

Is this something I can do myself or do I need to take it to a gunsmith?

Welcome to the forum, joe.

XD sights (especially the front) have a reputation for being extremely tight and difficult to remove. To avoid potential damage to the slide on removal and ensure a good install of the new sights, I recommend taking your pistol to a smith who has experience with the weapon. It costs a bit more, but you save bigtime in aggravation.
