Snakes scare me so I use classic cleaning systems.

That's why you wash the frickin' thing once and a while. Or do you just buy new underwear and throw the old ones away?

Let me guess the boresnake will clog with grit and act like sand paper in the bore?

Or maybe the brushes will scratch the bore?

I have heard them all and they are all crap. No one has told me anything that can change my mind about cleaning my guns with a boresnake. The only guns I do not worry about are my SVI's barrel and my Frankenpara's barrel.

This is why.

From Wil Schuemann of Schuemann Barrels.

But, doing so always seemed to cause the bore to revert to a dirtier look with more shooting, so I eventually stopped ever putting anything down the bore except bullets...
Good luck,

I only use the boresnake at the range because it's quick and easy, every couple hundred rounds, then pass an oiled patch. I started using em with my 12ga and found that it won't get it all out, I have to use a brush, so I still clean the weapon with conventional tools. I do have a boresnake for every caliber tho and use it to get the majority of the crud out when firing a lot. It's no magic only tool to use product tho, I think some people get that idea. I keep em in an empty 22 box as well, sliding top, easy access, fairly well sealed up, easily labeled, compact storage.

I drop mine right in with that little Hoppes pistol cleaning kit that I picked up.

Both of mine, actually.

My buddy Shayne apparently does, as well, after going through his range bag to dig out his 92FS this morning.
