Breaking in of your XD is done by shooting it.

Anyone have an idea of how many rounds XDs normally take. I have a relatively new XD9 SC and a XD9 Tactical will be shipped to my FFL today. I'm curious about how many rounds it will take before a good gun, out of the box, quits getting better. Lee |

I think the gun is good and broken in at ~500 rds. but when you get to 1000, it starts to really smooth out. Kinda like when a baseball glove starts to get loose and you don't have to make an effort to open and close it. Like Butta

Things are smoother at 500 rounds and spelling improves too but I am not sure why.
Good on Dad and you are going to love it! Swab the bore once in a while and keep it lubed. Use a lube spec'd for low temps, as some will get thick and cause problems in the cold. Shoot it and have fun otherwise. Last edited by Don : 04-23-2007 at 11:28 PM. |

I usually clean it after every couple hundred rounds or so. After getting home from the range, I'll give it a quick wipedown with a silicone rag. After a while (I don't shoot a lot...) I'll totally break it down and clean it good. Please don't call them clips. They are magazines, not clips. Matt
