Full mag hard to remove?

I've had little trouble with my XD. Quite happy with it in fact. One thing that is hard to get to operate smoothly is the removal of a full mag (either 10 or 12 rd.). Is it normally hard to get a full mag out? If not, what could the problem with my mag retention clip be? Thanks.

That is actually normal. Not sure if it was designed for this reason or not but it makes it very difficult to accidentally drop a mag during an "intense" moment.

Full mags (16rnds) in my XD-9 drop clear just like if they were empty. Hit the mag release and no other action is required it just falls out.

My wife's LLAMA with the stock mag has this happen. With a full or partialy full mag. you have to get a good grip and give it a yank to get it out. I bought some USGI surpluss 1911 mags and they fall right out even with a full mag. So I've come to the conclusion that it is just the mag giving me the problem.

My full mags are harder to drop. I think it is very common. As somebody else mentioned, I think it is a good thing. Just make sure you really whack those full mags in when you load.

I don't think this is normall and it souldn't be considered as such. What happens when you do a tactical reload (reload a partially full mag with a full one) and you have to wrestle with the weapon to get the mag out. Not good.

Infact if I remeber reading right the XD is soppoused to have "drop-free" magazines.

It's normal when dropping a full mag. The mag drops fee but the button is hard to push. The bullets are pushing down on the mag which pushes donwn on the release button and it makes the button a bit hard to push, not impossible. Once you've shot a couple of rounds from the mag the release button gets softer.
Just imagane a door with someone trying to push it open while still closed, now try to turn the knob. It's harder to turn the knob than when no one is pushing against it.

Mine is hard to release too... I just push the mag all the way in while holding the realease button and it pops out easily when fully loaded.

Wrong thoughts...it is completely normal sice magazines are full...once they start to get empty you can handle using less effort (drop -free). Tactical reloads should be perform with magazines almost or empty on real situations...it is more dangerous to get a loose mazagine during a run or weak /incorrect handling during stress than "wresting with it".

just my 2 cents.

Mine is only a few weeks old and only has about 250 rounds through it so far. It is the same way. I figured it would eventually ease up over time.
