If it is too much of a problem, push up on the mag before you hit your mag release button.

Given how often this question gets asked around here you'd think someone would make a sticky out of one of these threads. I bet we have answered this question in one form or another 10 times since the beginning of the year.

One serious point, then a silly one...

I popped in an empty mag just now, and then slowly pushed the release button.

If you watch closely, you'll see the magazine rise slightly before it comes free.

To me, this would make sense that a full mag would be a bit harder (actually, a LOT harder, I just tried it with my other one) to remove, as it has to push/pull the magazine up a bit, and the extra 10/12 rounds' weight would mean a bit of extra effort.

And, after a HIGHLY scientific trial of one empty, one full magazine, I tried pressing the release with the mag chamber pointed straight up, and the magazines still moved "up" towards the slide as I pressed them. I also noted that the 10-round magazine jumped more when released.

Besides, the best way to remove a full magazine is to empty it first.
