Regarding dry firing, does this implies DF without snap caps or with them as well? I hope not. I mean, I plan practicing with those before hitting the range (want to get the feel for the trigger).
It absorbs the shock of dry firing so that your Firing pin won't break. If it comes out completely then the firing pin will stick out of from the breach and cause the slide to hang on before going into battery. Take a look at the XD diagrams it shows you exactly what the roll pin does. As long as the pin is still holding the striker in place the gun will function.

DF with snap caps shouldn't hurt the gun. Most of the stress on the pin is from DF without snap caps.

Hmm..too bad you have to dry fire it without snap caps when doing a fieldstrip.
I do one every time I get back from the range..so, too many of these field strips and there goes the rollpin.

That's why the roll pin is there, because you have to dry fire it to disassemble.

Too many DFs as in sitting at home practicing your technique while not using snap caps. Like in draw, aim, fire sessions or trigger pull practice maybe several hundred a day.

Yeah I understand. That would be kinda irresponsible, without the snap caps.
Thanks for the info!

Dry firing the XD

Dry firing this gun without snap caps isn't going to hurt a thing.
