I did mine with white crayon, and it looked great. Unfortunately....while it was able to stand up to a few hours or range time and heat it was not able to stand up to sitting in a hot trunk for the drive home from the range (was real hot that day). I am going to give some Testors white a try...

gave in and colored mine

So I've read this thread about 50 times over debating whether or not I should try this magical crayola crayon trick. And after much deliberation I decided that I couldn't take a crayon to me beloved XD. So instead I spent the better part of 1 1/2 hours with satin white enamel and a toothpick...

Here are the results, what do you guys think? (pics are a little craptastic...sorry)

I should think rubbing the slide using the long edge of a crayon to protect the lands of the slide, and painting with model paint or equivalent in the grooves of the lettering(sloppily over the crayon) allowing it to dry, then heating the crayon and allowing it to flow or be wiped away would create a rich, clean fill of the lettering. Any body brave enough? haha.

Just did mine silver nail polish only took about 10 minutes. looks good no haze. I don't see the need for pics there are so many already.
