Melonite finish is basically "baked" into the steel, nothing except sandblasting will remove the finish. |

Testors paints...
Hey, loved what you all did with the crayons and nail polish and various other ways to color the engravings.
Anyone ever tried Testor's model paints? I know that aside from being snowed in and building models in the winter months, I also use them alot for cars, restoring emblems, trim, knobs and such. A dab on a really fine brush and a little bit of thinner and the paint just runs off the brush and fills whatever cavity. A little thinner on a rag for a clean up and presto. Just haven't tried it on lettering on a firearm yet. Was wondering if anyone else has. Don't want to screw things up. If it's a bad idea, I'll follow you people's advice and use a crayon or some other way like the info says. If nobody knows, I'll give it a try and let everybody know.

I think it would be sweet to color in the engravings in silver and then have Canyon Creek due the trigger, pins, and other small parts in silver. I think it would look pretty cool.

so let me make sure I have this straight...
nail polish will be tough(er) to get out of the engravings if I decide to change colors, but not off my slide itself with some hoppes. yay? nay?
