Mag. spring deterioration.
Case in point. I had a Ruger KP89 that was "in custody" with the State Patrol for six years. Don't ask for all the details, just suffice it to say that I was not accused of any wrong doing. Anyway, when I picked up the pistol (term for auto-loading handgun versus a revolver. Don't want to confuse anyone!
 ), the two magazines (not clips! ) were still crammed full with 15 9MM rounds each. The pistol was locked open with a big black zip tie through the mag. well and slide. I thought, great, I gotta buy new mags. and a new recoil spring! Everything works flawlessly! Guys and Gals, don't worry about spring wear. I doubt any of us will wear out any springs on any of our guns.
