Cool holster question...

Hello to all...I am a left hander...I know, I know, "nobody's perfect." Or "there are so many other things you could do to occupy your time other than shooting..." Anyhoo, I just purchased the XD .45 service model and I also snagged an XML minilite. I have been mulling this purchase over a few months and trying to ignore my gunner's mate's buddies in my unit and their personal opinions about sidearms. I value them, but I am just not a Glock or a Sig fan. Blade-Tech makes a very cool holster with an XML insert that lets a person carry with the light installed. Very cool. However, the only place I can find it is pistolgear.com, and they have very few "in stock" options for lefties. Does anyone have any input as to where I might be able to find one of these holsters? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am really not feeling the love with the gear holster that came with the package, although the idea of a gear box from Springfield is very nice. Have a great evening everyone!!!

Kinda not what your asking for, but I'd like to give a little input on the lights. I have the xd40sc with the xml light. I have the uncle mikes holster for the light that I attach to my duty rig while I work. The xml attaches to my sig 226 and my backup xd. I rarely use the light. Actually I only use it if I know I am going to be searching a house or building for a suspect. Other than that I dont even take it off my belt. I don't think I would like it on the gun all the time. If your not going to use the gun in your work, I would suggest not getting a big holster. The xml will fit in your pocket, cup holder, jacket, etc... You could use the holster it came with and attach the light to the front rail of the holster. Anyone out there with any other imput on the gun w/light holsters let us know how you like them.

Depending on what you use your firearm for would greatly sway whether to have the light attached all the time or not.

As a police officer I use a light attached to my handgun (soon to be XD). I keep the light attached all the time and keep it in the holster together. I know some officers that keep the light in a seperate keeper and only attach the light when they need it. My thought is what happens when the light is attached and you get into a physical confrontation where you need to holster your weapon. Yeap you can't until you discard the light! the few precious moments it takes to get that light off might be the deciding factor if you go home that night.

Now when I carry off duty (I carry a 5" Tactical 1911) I don't carry with a light. I dont carry a light because the weapon is only to be used to defend myself or my family. I don't believe in "looking for a fight" off duty. Unless there is a life threatening situation I am the "best witness" I can be

I'm a left handed shooter also and am in the process of having Blade Tech make me a holster. The turn around (3 weeks) is not bad at all. I figure it gives me time to get the pistol approved for duty use while I wait.

Talking I appreciate the input...

Thanks for the information. I went ahead and called Blade-Tech and I am having them make me one as well. 5-6 weeks was the turn around time they gave me. I feel the same way about having the light mounted all the time specifically for the reason of needing it quick and not being able to mount it in time or fumbling and losing your life because you couldn't see your target. I like the idea of not having to carry a larger flashlight. If I need to detach for something other than clearing rooms, I have it available. They gave me a pretty good price, too. Not a bad day. Now if I could just find some 10-rd mags that are in stock anywhere on the planet, I will be set. There are plenty of 13 rdrs, but no 10's. I noticed the prices vary greatly too. Anywhere from $21 to $50. Amazing. They are all Springfields. Thanks again to both of you, and I appreciate your service. Stay safe.

I carry a 4" or a sub-compact everyday, and if I know I will be out anytime after dark I put a light on the the gun I am going to carry ( X200 surefire on the Service Mod, and a XLM on the Sub). If I had to do it over, I would buy a holster for either, or both guns that would accept a flashlight. For now, because it's winter and I'm wearing a jacket I put a flashlight on the gun I'm carrying and keep it in my jacket pocket.
