I actually prefer the Crimson Trace grips I have on one of my 1911's and also on a Ruger 4" revolver. Since they're adjustable for both windage and elevation, you can dial them in to the exact point of impact. The LM guiderod, is set the same way the sights are....6 o'clock from (I believe 25 yards out)....so the POI is actually above where the laser dot is. I'd rather it be just like my Crimson Trace grips are....POI is where the dot is. At the range, I only use the laser for the last 20-30 rounds for each gun...as a training aide, just to make sure...or if I feel like I'm flinching or jerking the trigger.
That being said...I've had no problems or issues with either as far as reliability, etc. Hope that helps!

+1 On liking the internals hard chromed. If Tripp is going out of business, where can I have it done and get the internals like this as well?

You could also try Robar Premium Finishing & Firearms Home Page I've heard good things about their NP3 finish, and I assume that the internals would be done as well. Good luck.
