Car Gun Safe

I would like a safe that would fit in my glovebox. (I have a large glovebox; about 1 cu. foot) One that could be bolted down to the chassis and has quick access incase of an emergency.

I would use this to secure my pistol in places I cannot bring it in.

I would like to spend less than $100.

Any ideas? Are there any that are actually made for a car?

Not sure about any safe's, but I did see a beretta bag at the store the other day that uses that exomesh I think. It's made for securing your weapon in your vehicle for those short periods like that. Just secure the stainless steel cable around something that's bolted down and it'd be fairly secure. Think the price was $28 or $38. Here's a link to it.

What store did you see this bag at? I want it.

Don't want to wait for online shipping.

I purchased one of those beretta bags today. I have a soft case that is just a little bigger than my xd40 service, and if I put it in the bag with the narrow end down it fits good when closed. Takes up the whole bag, but that's ok. my soft case is about 11 3/4" by 6 3/4". It was the smallest case I could find that would fit the gun.

I just got mine. It's a nice little case. It will slow a bad guy down from stealing your pistol, but I doubt it will stop them if they REALLY wanted it.

The cable is strong, but I don't think the metal clamp on one end will prevent a badguy from yanking the box right off the wire.
Wirecutters would make quick work out of this wire.

I could imagine it stopping a bad guy if they just wanted to smash and grab whatever they could. If they brought tools.....the wire wouldn't be effective.

This box can also be mounted onto a hard surface with screws, and there's already predrilled holes for it. I think this feature will strongly prevent the theft of a pistol inside this box.

It's a great little box that will add another layer of security to storing a pistol.

Thanks for the update. Your review is pretty much what I expected to hear. Though I'm not thrilled about drilling holes anywhere in my cars it looks like that's what I'll be doing. Like you said, that cable would be easily defeated and, as much as it sucks, bolting it down is the way to go.
Good luck and thanks again for the follow up.

First of all what kind of "car" do you have. There is a company out there with a console safe that comes in 2 different sizes that you might want to check out if you have a console.
