New Finishes on XD's, how to tell?

I'm interested in perhaps purchasing an XD40 Service pistol. I was told by someone to make sure it had the "Melanite" (excuse spelling) coating on it to prevent rust. How can I tell which models have the coating? Is there a specific manufacturing date or model number to look for?

Thanks in advance..

Welcome to the forum. Not sure if they have started using melonite on models other than the XD 45 ACP. You would need to call SA to inquire on that.

custome gun smith may be able to do it but youd more than likely be better off just buying a ported one. it does seem silly that thay dont offer the V10 in bi tone though.

it does...do you know if someone at SA could give me that information..I don`t know...maybe if I give them the serial number of my gun...they could tell me exactly how it was build...if my PORTED do or does not comes Bi-TONE?
