9mm XD 40 xd durabilty?
are the 9mm and 40 versions of the XD the same other than barrele or are there improvments to the frame of the 40 to withstand the extra power of the 40?

From what I can tell, the frames are identical. There are minor differences in the slide related to the barrel opening (larger on the XD40) and lateral positioning of the extractor (larger case dimension for .40S&W).
