The XD is very easy to take apart and clean. Field stripping can be done in a matter of seconds.

I've never field stripped a pistol till I got my XD a few months ago. Like saleen said...it takes seconds. Now if you are talking about taking the whole gun apart...I am not your man for advice.

about the only disconcerting part is having to pull the trigger to release the slide. But if you practice gun safety...shouldn't be a problem.

Pulling the trigger shouldn't matter as long as the ejector is working, b/c you've already racked the slide back, so any shells left in the gun will be ejected as long as the magazine is not stuffed in the well. That's part of the reason that Springfield developed the procedure for disassembling the XD as such, so it shouldn't be any reason to worry. Just check the pipe to make sure you're clear.
With my personal experience with my XD the only problem I have had is cleaning carbon off the striker and especially in the ridge between the slide and ejector. Any suggestions on making that easier would be helpful.
