Jammed slide
I had my slide jam after I tried to reassemble my XD after normal cleaning and maintenance. The feed ramp dropped under the about mid way through and I couldn't pull it appart. I had a guy at Gander Mt. fix it. He said to just beat it on a table to get it appart...isn't that a lousy design of the weapon if it jamms like that or did I screw something up?

That or your disassembly lever was not in the 'UP' position when you attempted to reassemble the slide to the frame.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I thought I was the only one...
See my only other post on this board so far entitled "New XD9 all screwed up". I checked the recoil spring assembly before reassembling it (and it was in the proper place) and I can tell you that the takedown lever was in the "up" position...recoil spring slipped out and gun is in full lockup. I am PISSED now that I see I am not the first person this has happened to...makes me wonder. Has anyone else had this issue??? I might just ditch the XD as soon as it is repaired... -Rob |

I just did the same thing tonight. It really sucks when this happens. I usally pound the slide against the edge of my bench until it breaks free. I did the same thing when I first got my gun and haven't noticed any real issues.
