New to the Springfield XD9SC, and to the forum.

I found this forum recently, which while browsing, convinced me to buy a XD9SC for CCW. I usually use my 1911A1 G.I. .45, but this will definately be my CCW pistol. Just thought I'd say hi, thanks for all the information I've found here, and thanks in advance for the information I'm sure to find.

Hi & welcome to the club. I use my XDSC9 as my primary carry weapon too. I love the gun. There are others out there that are better (and many more that are worse). But for the money, I'm very pleased with this SA product. The more I shoot it, the more satisfied I am with it.

Good luck with it & post questions you may have on your new purchase.

Thanks for the welcome. When I first shot this, I was totally amazed at it's accuracy. Haven't seen such a small pistol have such good accuracy before, though I'm sure a lot of it was due to to my own inexperience with smaller guns.

Currently, my real questions, only two at the moment, would be concerning a tactical light for the rail. I don't have any experience with rails, so is there any particular name for this type of rail? Also, with pictures of the light on this gun, I've noticed that the light extends past the barrel. My second question, would be, does that damage the light at all?

The rail is a picatinny rail.

I have the XML light. No damage to the light from firing. It works well. Although now, I believe there's a laser/light combo that fits the XDSC. I'd look into the cost difference and see if it's something that you'd be interested in.
