Wow.. just read the entire thing. Long read, but worth it.

Our military men and women put up with a lot, whether they're overseas fighting or back home. I can't imagine having to do what these casualty assitance officers do.

I've seen them at funerals I've been to when riding with the Patriot Guard Riders.

You can see the connection these families create with their assigned officer.

Very intense. As I sit here with my application for OCS for the Marine Corps Reserves, I pray this is something my wife will never have to experience.

Try to block off an hour without distraction to read it. It's a long read, but a good one.

Funny you mention that. I'm actually staying up (work night shift, normally asleep 2.5hrs ago) waiting for the Marine recruiting station to open up.

Good luck.

This absolutely worth taking the time to read. It gave me a new appreciation for our Armed services and Veterans at the same time. I printed out and passed it on to several co-workers as well. I think I am going to have to pick up the book.

Ok this tore me up, especially the sister getting the tattoo of her brother, so he's always watching her back.

I know the sacrifice,

I respect it,

I most importantly...appreciate it.

I was on several funeral details during Nam. What got to me was how many Mothers refused to believe that was their boy in the box.

Guess it hasn't gotten any easier.
