Gunshow shopping tips

attending a local gunshow this weekend and will be looking for a new or used xd-40 tactical. Any advice on what to look for on used guns or cautions about buying new?

Welcome to the forum.

As with any firearm, a quick, cautious inspection is
the order of the day. Ask if you can field strip a
model, if you find one you like, or if the dealer says
no, then ask them to do so. Look it over carefully,
making sure that it looks aok and that the ejector
is not bent. All wear marks will be noticible. It is
ok to dry fire the firearm with the owners permission.
Dry firing will not harm the firearm.

New firearms, what can I say? The biggest thing at
gun shows in my opinion is price. That is where the
fun part is and why I like to go.

Hope you get what you are looking for at your price.

I have found that a pocket flashlight (AA type) is very helpful. Sometimes the lighting isn't so great at the show and you want to be able to inspect every part of the firearm. Also, a bore light is also a useful tool and are often sold at the show.

Good luck.
