45 XDm for hunting!!

Well I have decided to take my XDm 45 3.8 out deer hunting this year.

Have used a .41 Mag S&W 657 topped with an Aimpoint for years. Gonna switch it up this year.

Packing Corbon 185 grain +P , DPX.

Really looking forward to this season already!! Anybody else??

Well, 45acp+p is a definite step down from 41mag, and you are giving up even more performance with a shorter effective barrel (different barrel measuring techniques between revolvers and semis).

Here is how that round acts at different barrel lengths.
Ballistics by the inch
a 6" barrel looks like what you need to get advertised performance.

all that said, you should have enough round there to drop a deer with good hit placement. Just don't shoot beyond your ability. Good luck and have fun this fall.

I thought I was the only person crazy enough to use an XDm 45ACP to deer hunt with. I have gotten 13 deer since I started using it last year. I love it. I have the 4.25 in barrel. I find it just fine to take down bambie if he/she is within 75 yards and I have dropped them all. I have yet to have to track one of them yet.

I was considering doing the same. I was also looking at the Corbon DPX, they seem like the best option. I would think it will do the job at a reasonable range with a well place shot.

It is called bone head camo. I had it done by a company in waterloo, NY. They are called Tarjac. It was very cheap to have done. just don't send anything to them you don't want camoed.
