Hi All,

First of all, I want to apologize for all of the downtime we've had. Our provider finally diagnosed the problem to a faulty RAID controller (the piece of hardware which controls the hard disk drives) which has been causing most of the database issues. A little bit too late because...

... our new server is arriving today! I will be in the process of prepping the server for the migration to the new server this week after work in an attempt to get everything moved before I leave for two-weeks for a client. I will remotely administer the shake-down after the transition is complete.

Also, during this time, I've been notified by our current provider that we're being migrated to new hardware in the interim so there will be downtime associated as we're being "bounced" about to solve the faulty RAID controller issue.

I'll keep everyone posted on all progresses in both regards.

so other than some intermittent down times is there any set time that the forum will be down?

Oops. Great question. Provider has stated downtime will be intermittent starting 10 AM PST, January 9th, 2007 for up to 48 hours as accounts are moved to the new hardware node.

Thanks, I figured it might be something hardware related since the downtime happened fairly regularly.

In a nutshell, the RAID controller locks up and data cannot be written to the database anymore causing the database errors.

Luckily, we've been blessed not having the entire database corrupted when this happens although I have been doing daily backups.

Honestly... I'm glad XDTalk has finally grown to the point where we need our own server. I dislike shared environments.
