10 DAYS?!!!! Ouch. I thought having to wait five days was bad. Although I just found out that it's really longer than that. I went to the gunshop where I bought my XD-9 today and mentioned that I can't wait to pick my gun up on Sunday. The owner looked at me and said "You bought it on Tuesday right?" Yeah, I said. "Well it's actually five business days. So it would be next Tuesday". I got a double dose of feeling stupid and bummed that my wait just got extended another two days. I really feel for you Cali gun owners. Honestly I don't understand why you have such a long waiting period. It takes one day for your record/background check to come in. I think it would be reasonable for once that clears then you should be good to go. I can't say I agree with being able to pay and go. That is unless they do a record/background check first. Hell, gunshops should have some responsibility, whatever state their in.

Personal preference, really. The reduced pull weight is nice, but its the reduced overtravel and reset that really attracts people , IMO. Well, at least thats what appeals to me.

Not trying to hijack, just answering the query.

Tomorrow is XD day for me!!!

It's been a long 5 business days. I've been walking around with a knot in my stomach, and it keeps getting tighter the closer it gets to Tuesday. The gunshop owner tried to pull a fast one on me. I called him up this morning just to make sure everything was a go for me to pick up my XD-9 tomorrow. He then tells me that he has to go somewhere tomorrow and he needs to take "the books" with him. I wanted to reach through the phone and choke him. At any rate I kept my composure but I told him that I was upset having waited this long already. The he asked if I could be there tomorrow morning at 8. Well I think everyone can basically figure out what I said.

Even though I'm going to see him in the morning I'm still a little steamed. I feel like going in there and duct taping his head to the display case.

it just means you're getting to the range earlier than expected.

+1 for being miserable. I come from a no wait state, but now i'm stationed in florida. I thought everything would be cool, because in florida if you have CCW they waive the wait. Well apparantly, despite reciprocity agreements, an out of state ccw doesn't get the same priveledges. so now, i have to wait, yeah it's only 3 days, but again those are BUSINESS days, what load of crap. by the time i can get off work and in to pick it up it will be almost 4 days. nothing worse than going in, handling the beautiful 45 compact, paying for it, and then leaving without it. a little piece of me died yesterday.

Well you'de think so. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get out to the range until Saturday. I know, I know. It's sacrilege to go 4 days before you shoot a new gun. The carpal tunnel syndrome in my right wrist is a form of self flagellation.
