Beware of Spam Bots... - XDTalk Forums - Your HS2000/SA-XD Information Source!

Some of you may have seen the workings of spam bots over the last few days. Their posts usually show as "guest". Keep in mind the the forum is set up where guests cannot post, however, these spammers managed to find a way around this. I would guess it is time for Kermee to upgrade the software again. I am doing what we can to stifle it, but it is a PITA.

Perhaps some of our phpBB experts can help Kermee with this.

The forum is running vBulletin now, but these spammers are now posting using screen names other than "Guest". Mostly in the Sticky forum. Some of you have been real fast to let us know about them.

Just want to ask everyone that sees one of these spammer threads to click on the Report Bad Post icon (the triangle) in the person's screen name/avatar box, or PM one of the Mods so we can zap these threads fast.
Don't click on any of the spam links contained in the post...you never know where they will take you!

I wasn't sure if the Report Bad Post icon's actually did anything, so thanks I'll stick to that. I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Kermee, this is unrelated to the spam, but while the forums were down a few days ago there was an error page that had the administrator's e-mail on it. I tried to send an e-mail to the address just in case the admins didn't know... but the e-mail server bounced back the message several times. Just to let you know, the e-mail address doesn't seem to work.

The address was: dkao at xdtalk dot com. I wrote it out here so that the spam bots don't pick it up.

yeah same thing happened with me when i tried to send the email...

as for spam...

I'ma spam reportin fool myself...

I've got my spam reporting times down to the mid .8's :P
