The car forums I have been on also had to remove it. Too many kids still living in mom and dad's basement spend too much time what someone half way across the planet thinks of them. It's just not worth the drama. I log on here because I want info or have info to share. If I want to watch a bunch of people cry over something that's insignificant, I'll watch Survivor.

I just donated too. Hopefully enough of us will do that to compensate for any loss that may result. I did not participate very much in the rep system. All I know is that of all the forums I participate in, I find this one the most informative and least BS oriented and I enjoy coming here.

I never paid ttention to it, could go either way as far as I cared but if we loose membership because of it, you do what you got to do.

It wasn't about people complaining and trying to get the system removed. It was about people clearly attacking one another in their rep posts that was an obvious violation of the CoC. Yes, everyone has the right to freedom of speech, but this is a privately owned forum and I think you'll find we have pretty accepting mods compared to other forums.

I can't say for sure, but I bet the system would probably still be here if it wasn't for the blatant disregard for the CoC while using the rep system. It's one thing to disagree respectfully, but to personally attack someone because you disagree is wrong. Don't hate the people who didn't like it and wanted it gone, thank the people who abused it as that is who got it taken away.

XDTalk is actually a benevolent dictatorship (extremely benevolent if you look at other sites around the ubernet). Managing a forum filled with strong-willed, idealistic members is like herding cats, with the additional caveat that many of the cats have been hitting the sauce a little too hard and are probably armed with automatic weaponry.

Not every experiment works when you're dealing with people. I guess we'll just have to figure out who to trust the old-fashioned way--by hanging around and getting to know the members as people instead of looking at who's got the most little green thingies under their names. *shrugs*

Thanks for the effort and expense you put into running our little neighborhood, Kermee. It is the best gun forum, or forum of any kind, on the net.
