But

Man I just had gotten my second badge, it was a thing that was fun and the fact that people had to bitc* and cry about it is more childish than my wanting to be repped. How I got to know other member better via the Rep thread that I started. I think that it was a fun way for us to talk to each other kind of like the NET (Never ending thread). Of course insteading of just not paying attention to the system they had to ***** and moan to the MODS. So I don't blame the Mod's and or Kermee. You sir are the owner of the sight and I resoect that. As well as your choice to dump it. I admit it was useless but kit was fun. Kind of like a .50 muzzle break on a 12 guage totally unsecarry but fun

And, here I have been really behaving for the past two months, so that I don't lose rep points. It was an incentive, not so much to gain the points, but to keep from losing them.

I now feel liberated to speak my mind.

In all honesty, I can't believe that someone wanted a refund of their donation. Didn't the donations come out BEFORE the rep system, anyway? So, there really wasn't an expectation to even have a rep system, to begin with?

The whole conversation is juvenile. Some people REALLY don't have lives. I use this forum, amongst others, to help me burn the day. Nothing more. On a rare occasion, I get a tidbit of useful gun information. I don't take it seriously at all, and it could easily be gone tomorroe, and I probably wouldn't think twice about it.

Anytime you install a reward system that can be abused and "whored" out to where the resulting points or merit badge is used as a status symbol, it cannot end good.

I am glad to see the Rep system gone. Thank you Kermee!

I am a "Super Mod" on another vBulletin based forum and we had the same issues that have popped up here with reputation points and ended up removing the feature. We even went as far as wiping out everyone's reputation points and trying a second time. Same thing.

The point being that it's no biggie. I doubt there will be any member loss due to disabling it.

Thanks for running the forum.

Kermee, thanks for updating us as to the why's and wherefores of your descision. I would just like to say that I agree with the person that said they do not believe that we will lose any memberships over this issue and if by chance we did lose a couple of people over this then they probably are not right for XDTalk anyway. I am going to step out on a limb here though and try to speak for most of us that "Played" in the Increase your Rep thread and say I do not believe that any of us used it as a way to increase our popularity. It was just something that we did for fun and actually wound up creating quite a unique little family. I got to know a lot of members a lot better through that thread that I may not have done otherwise. I personally am sad to see it go, but I thoroughly understand and support your descision. In spite of this issue you (Kermee) and XDTalk Rocks and will continue to suggest it to other people. I have learned/relearned many things since getting back into guns after many yrs of not being involved in the culture. The wealth of knowledge and overall, dare I say maturity, of the people on this forum will far outweigh this issue. Thanks again Kermee for a fine forum.

I hear ya. Most of my points were all earned, but I understand that many others got their points via the free rep threads.

Hopefully, some of the folks on here will consider becoming a site supporter to more than make up for the one person who requested a refund.

What do you say guys?
