Xd9 Sc

Had my XD9 SC out to the range today...second time shooting it

I'm a newbie to handguns, but here is my report.

1) I love shooting it. I shot about 150 rounds through it, and when I take my time I can shoot very well at 7 yds. Since I'm still new to it, though, beyond 7yds I really start to scatter them. I have bad habits that I'll need to iron out, probably with a 22 handgun for practice.

2) My friend was with me, and he shoots a Glock 19 in 9mm. He always busts on me for the XD, but he shot it today. He won't admit it (pride), but I think he liked it. Also, he kept saying he couldn't believe its recoil was less than his 4" Glock. He actually shot better with the XD than with his Glock.

I experienced the same thing. For me, flinching seemed to be my biggest problem. The 3" barrel does accentuate any mistakes we make. Or it did for me. Enjoy the sc.

The GLock Fan-boys have hard time accepting anything that isn't produced by the the big G.. you will get better with practice, and if your all over the place under rapid fire situations, sounds like you need to devlope you grip a little more.. also will come with practice.

Google Proper Pistol Grip or you tube as I know there are some good videos out there with the XD in them

Hello OP, may I suggest taking some lessons (2-3 hours should do it) on proper marksmanship? I am in the final stages of my lessons with my first true carry pistol now, an XD9SC, and am shooting much, much better after $150+ worth of lessons from a trained professional. I have been practicing the same things you are and am very confident in my shooting (at least from a Weaver stance) now.

Enjoy the new XD!

Keep shooting that XDsc and you will become one with it. I have no idea why the Glockers are so anti any ohter gun. You see lots of people on here with all kinds of guns.... and very little trash talking.... there are even quite a few glocks owners here.

Having owned many Glocks, I can tell you the XD is very similar to Glock, but more refined. I no longer own any Glocks. Besides, it's nice not to look like every small town cop with a Glock. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

I just grew to hate many things, such as that plastic springy sound of the Glock when I'd rack the slide. The XD is just so solid sounding. It shoots and feels the same. Glocks have those cheap plastic feeling triggers and sights too.

Yea, i feel that though glocks can withstand what ever you throw at it, it's not THE best gun out there.... it's very reliable but it feels a little snappy compared to other handguns of the same caliber.
