Talking xd .45acp - first time shooting (pic)

Yeehaw! I finally got to shoot my new XD .45acp 4" with thumb safety yesterday. I took a CCW class and as part of the class, we had to shoot 18 shots into a blank 8.5"x11"piece of paper with our own gun. I didn't know what to expect with recoil and control since it is a .45 and I'm not a big guy. I'm 5'7" at 135 lbs wet. I was so pleasantly surprised! You guys were right! The recoil is like a very manageable push rather than a snappy jerk like the 9mm. The shots (for the most part) went where I pointed. Since I haven't shot this gun before and learned the particulars of my pistol, i was pretty pleased for just having 18 shots. I'm sure with more range time and practice, I'll be keeping it in the center with tighter groups.

Yes...proof needed as always so here you go (cell phone pic):

I'll be submitting my application for my CCW permit this week.

Congrats on the new XD! It looks like a good shooter. Is that the qualification for CO?...18 rounds into an 8.5x11?

I don't think it is part of the qualification for CO. There were other CCW classes available that were classroom only instruction that still qualified as for the CO CCW class requirement.

Nice job buzzer. I've never tried the XD 45. Someday.

CO requires a class with a certified instructor. There is not a standard for instruction. My class was all day and I fired over 100 rounds.

Thanks for the info. I have a buddy who is moving to CO and I will pass this info along to him. That is interesting that there is not standardization for materials covered or proficiency testing.
