600 rounds

Last Friday I went to the indoor range I joined in April. I try to go every 2 weeks and put a 100 rds through.
My XD40has performed flawlesly. I'm shooting WWB and Blazers through it. I have not had 1 FTF or FTE.
My trigger is starting to loosen up a bit, which makes my pull easier, which is making my shot placemant better. I am shooting mostly at 7 yds. But do go out to 25 yds occaisionally. I'm shooting strong and weak hand drills. I also using the Weaver and the Isoceles stance.
At first I was apprehensive with my new gun, but as I become more familier with I am enjoying it more and more. As I become more comfortable with it I am having more fun.
Break down and cleaning is easy and I have found no unusual signs of wear or fatigue.
I am really glad I chose this gun over the FN, which was my other choice. I'd love to add a 9mm, but my wife and finances dictate otherwise.

I'm new with the XD firearms, so bear with me. Is your .40 a SC? I have the XD9SC, and took it out monday and shot 200 rounds. I was shooting at 50 ft. and not doing well. In fact, I got pretty disgusted at my shooting.

One thing I did learn was to probably cap my target practice to 100 rounds and then take a breather. I didn't accomplish much with that second box other than break in.

I'm practicing at that distance to use it to qualify for my CCL renewal later this year.

Jim: Good report. You will like the XD the more you shoot it!

Lazy_R: Even if you CCL qualification is at 50', practice at a closer distance (about 21') until you are used to the SC. I also think it is a good idea that you take a breather after 100 rounds. If you lose your concentration, or get fatigued it is easy to start practicing bad technique.

Thanks, guys. I'll shorten the distance next trip.

I have the xd40 service 4". You may want to print out a copy of the target in the Sticky at the of the range reports. I know it helped me.

30 shots at 30 ft with my XD-9-SC,

The Shoot-N-C target is 8in in diameter.

My range is very dark in the shooting lanes. I currently have the Tru-Glo Fiber Optic which are great for outside but, I am going to get the TFO sights, which glow in the dark, as soon as I can save the Money.

Damn I can't see good anymore and I need all the help I can get.

Peace

You may want to order a .40cal to 9mm conversion barrel from pistolgear.com. Drop the barrel in, go to a 9mm magazine and you should be good to go. two calibers from one pistol is pretty cool

I don't mean to bust your bubble but you might want to shoot at about 8 yards for a while & then work your way back. The reason I think so is because I did the same thing when I got my XD. When I had fired approx 200 rounds in the 8-10 yard range I then felt more comfortable easing back
