2 XD's Jam's UPDATE :-)

Ran a bore snake through and lubed. Through some Lellier & Bellot 115gr in and went out the next day. They both functioned fine except the slides were 1/2 & 1/2 locking back on the last round. Lucky I can shoot right out the back of my house.

I went out the day after and switched back to the CCI blazer put 200 rounds through each and they shot well. Seems like they are breaking in is what they need????

I don't have to tell you folks how much I love these compaired to my Glocks. A few more times out with these to let them further prove themselfs and I'll be ready to let go of the G19

Thanks for the feedback

No gun should ever need a "break in."

Glad you had some better luck. The 50/50 slide lock back is probably due to your thumb position. Try adjusting your grip a bit.

Position of your thumbs is different for everyone with different length fingers. I have fairly long fingers but not freaky long. I am right handed and my left handed thumb is on the takedown lever and my right thumb is on the slide release. You may be tensing up and to much on the gun. Make sure that your thumbs are pointed straight at your target instead of pointed slightly up or down.

I only had that only happen once to my buddy this past weekend. His last magazine for the day he finished and brought the target in. I took my XD40 from him, dropped the mag and found there was one more round in it. Only time that has happened to me.

Good report. I agree with Ishpeck, you shouldn't have to "break in" a firearm, should be ready to lock and load from day one though we all feel we need to put a few hundred through it to make sure we have a fun time with it and it is ready to go go go!

If I am going to use any gun for carry, I want to know that it functions flawlessly. I think "breaking a gun in" is always a good idea in case there are any problems.

I think the point was that you shouldn't have to let it "wear" a little or adjust so that it works better. Any new gun shouldn't be so tight that it takes 50 or 100 (or more) rounds to function correctly. Doing a stress / confidence test is ok, and I'm sure everybody here has done it, but mostly out of curiosity, and because it's a new toy!

perhaps it just needed to be lubed? sometimes new guns come a little tight and dry.

Absolutely, ANY gun I carry for self defense will have a minimum of 200 rounds through it with 0 failure to feeds and 0 failure to fires. If you must trust your life with it, you need to know.

I have found, guns are a bit like cars, they need a little break in, and then they are fine.
