2 New XD's and Lot's of Jam's???

Just took out 2 brand new XD9's. A service and tactical. I emptied the tactical with 1 stove pipe. My wife began with the service and stove piped her 1st and 2nd. I suspected she might be limp wristing and told her to firm up and still another jam. I took the gun and emptied it with several more SP's and FTF's. As we continue to shoot with both the guns the service proved almost useless jamming near every shot and the tactical SPing or FTFing at least 1-2 X 's per mag. Using CCI Blazer Brass? Any thoughts or suggestions?

I will go out again tomorrow or day after with some differnt ammo for the XD's and my try this CCI stuff in my trusty old G19. (XD's were to replace the Glocks)

I'd have to imagine you both are holding it wrong...or perhaps that batch of ammo was particularly bad. Or maybe whoever sold you the guns kept them in a fish tank?

new XD malfunctions

I have 5 XD's and with the exception of the .45 all the other ones were persnickety about ammo when they were new. The .45 shoots like a Sig, runs like a Swiss watch from day one with anything I put in it.

The two 9's and the two .40's were both tight when they were new. The 4" .40 is still too new to rely on. The other ones broke in after a couple of hundred rounds and started running like they ought to. The 5" .40 has at least 15,000 rounds through it and it shoots the best of any of them. It's now my primary IDPA and IPSC gun.

On the plus side for people who are going to carry the XD, they all worked perfectly from the first magazine with Speer Gold Dot Hollow Points. But that's like running premium fuel in a european luxury sport sedan. You know you're not doing it good or getting the full enjoyment from it if you put lower grade fuel in it. So spend the extra money and get the full performance. For plinking, yeah, shoot whatever is cheapest and put up with the malfunctions until it breaks in. It will do fine once the springs get a few miles on them and the metal parts have time to make friends with each other.

I've had an XD-9-SC since last March and have shot nearly 1000 rounds through it so far. I totally don't understand why ya'll have problems. I shot the Winchester White Box (WWB lose pack) Ammo from WallyWeird and have absouletely zero FTF or FTL or FTE problems.

You must be doing something wrong!

Thirty shots at 30ft in an 8" target

That's all I got to say!!

I don't know about everyone else on here but whenever I buy a new gun I take it home and field strip it, inspect it for any obstructions in the barrel or moving parts, clean it thoroughly, and put on a fresh coat of oil (gun butter) and I've never had a problem. I made an exception to this habit once, I purchased a gun out of town and stopped at their local range and I had ftf and stove pipes, not every round but at least one round per mag. When I finally got home I did the same thing as all the others before it and it has worked flawlessly ever since.

Have never had a problem with any of mine

Try cleaning them really good and oiling them as said above then shoot a box of Rem UMC through both of them, clean again and try the Blazer

Let me preface this by saying that I am far from being a 'fanboy' of the XD or anything else. Fanboy-ness is indicative of about a 5th grade mentality and it is blind to the fact that practically every manufacturer lets a run of dogturds out the door occasionally.

Your function problem with occurring two guns/one load however makes it about twice as likely that you got bad ammo, as opposed to bad guns. The stove-piping makes me suspect that the Blazer load may be a little weak, too.

The family XD9 has run well with economy loads from both Remington (UMC) and Winchester (USA), regardless of whether those loads were ball or hollowpoint. I'd suggest that you try a box of those and see if things don't improve dramatically.

If they don't, I'd be calling Springfield for a couple of prepaid shipping labels.

I had FTE/FTF problems when I used Monarch green box, guess some were undercharged and teh slide didnt go back far enough. Happened to my friends SC when I used the ammo in his pistol. I switched to Winchester white box and have had zero problems, neither of my friends have problems either with WWB. I never used CCI brass so I cant comment. You can have bad batches of ammo sometimes
