Springfield Armory XD-M (warn 56K)
Hello XD talk,
I am a first time poster and just got back from a dealer (Acusport) event featuring the Springfield Armory XD-M. Ammunition was provided (.40SW) by Winchester. The location was French Creek Outfitters in Phoenixville PA. There were two SA XD-M on hand. One was a bi-tone and the other was black. They were chambered in .40SW. The group of dealers went through 18 X 50 round boxes of ammo in about an hour. Pictures: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Opinions: I come in with a bias. I am mostly a Glock and 1911 guy. The crowd viewed the presentation with a little bit of hesitation. After having everyone (about 15 in attendance) and the kind folk at French Creek Outfitters shot a few mags through the gun, everyone was smiles. It shot out of box and was accurate. The black XD experienced two failure to feeds and the bi-tone XD ran fine. They were shot right out of box. There was one shooter who had failure of the slide to lock back after the last round but that was due to his thumb being on the slide lock lever. The XD-M has less kick than the Glock 22 I am used too and I became attached to the bi-tone model. I really like the shiny but not overly shiny/reflective slide. I have no real other comments because I only shot about 5 mags through the gun. I would really need more time with one to draw any more conclusions. I was not able to clean it and see how the gun is after a few hundred rounds. This was more of a demonstration and give the gun a test drive. If you have any questions please feel free to post them and I'll answer them. There are changes from the original XD but nothing major, most of it is subtle. Jason BTW: Here is a link to the video on youtube of me shooting the XD-M in black. YouTube - Springfield Armory XD-M (The target is not the same one as pitured above. Oversight on my part but I am not that awesome with XD's, lol. Thank you HPD ' SRT for pointing that out. ) Last edited by JasonC8301 : 05-06-2008 at 05:39 AM. |

I don't like it very much, but it is nice to see a new XD on the market.
What does the M stand for?

Did they use the 45 frame to get the extra capacity? Did they mention any other calibers and/or frame colors?I might go for one if the price is right. Not that I need another striker fired pistol.

It's hard to get a good look with the slide locked back.

nikon777 - Not sure but the frame is different where the XD and XD-M mags are not interchangable. No mention of other colors for the frame but the presenters hinted at other calibers being in process (9 and 45.) No mention of price yet. I was estimating it to be at or close to Glock pricing but that is a guess.
btiremank - Well the slide is foward on the picture of the gun in the box. I did not have much time with the pistol and it is a force of habit to have the action open unless I am firing the gun or putting it back for storage. I apologize for not being prepared to take pictures of the gun under my conditions. |

Now that I've seen the Bi-Tone, I actually like the looks of it.
