XD45c, Glock30 & SWGunsite Commander

It was my first time at the range with the XD45c. I brought along the Glock and the Smith Commander for a comparison. I had 150 rounds. 100 hollow point hand reloads and 50 CCI Blazer aluminum casing. The Glock and Smith ran without problems. The XD had one failure to feed with the Blazer. The bullet hung up in the feed ramp.

I shot at 5, 7, 10 and 15 yards. Starting with slow fire and moving to controlled pairs. I was the most accurate with the Smith commander, then the Glock, and worst with the XD. I think it is because the trigger is new to me. The XD had the heaviest trigger pull weight, with the Smith the lightest.

The XD was pleasant to shoot. It had less perceived recoil and was more comfortable in my hand than the Glock30. What surprised me was the Smith commander. It had better perceived recoil and was more comfortable to shoot than the XD. The things that bothered me about the XD during shooting was the slide lock and the take down lever. I shoot thumbs forward and they got in the way.

I like the XD and would take over the Glock30, which I liked very much before the XD, but the Smith commander was very impressive. I am going to continue taking the XD to the range and run more ammo through it, to can get more experience with the gun. I will continue to post my experiences in th future.

Those are three amazing choices in 45.

I like/shoot my G30 the best.
