Hi from Michigan
Hi guys, I have been looking to buy a new hangun for a while. I found this site last year. I am very impressed with the knowledge and attitudes of people on here.
My first time out with a XD was yesterday rental .40 service and a M&P .40 rental. I really liked the XD, but I also liked the M&P. Here are my newb opinions/ observations about the two guns: the xd had about 1/4 inch of trigger take up before the hammer fell i had 4 FTF's with the XD apposed to none with the M&P. I was shooting the cheap stuff with the steel casings and then a box of mag-tech or w/e. I noticed the M&P responded better to doubled taps and I could keep it on target better, but I also felt that the XD was more accurate. I attribute this to the XD being a heavier gun. The first thing I noticed about the XD was the grip safety...I didnt think I would mind it, but I found my self not being able to release the slide without a very un-comfortable grip. The grip on the XD was nice and it felt great in my hand, the M&P did also but if felt like I needed a little more of something right above the webbing of my thumb. I really like the fact that the M&P has a sweet crisp trigger, the only draw back is I am extremely jumpy with it since it is such a light gun. 10yds ![]() 15yds

So, which one do you think you are going to go with? They are definitely both great guns. My buddy carries a M&P 9C, and I carry a XD SC 9. I would trust my life to both.

I don't really know which one I am going with as of right now. I think I am going to put another 200 rounds through each one and then decide. I really like the XD, but I can't stand the trigger take up, which is my main reason for likeing the M&P. I understand that there are kits out there to correct this right? I think it was springer precission? |

Yes, there are options to sweeten the XD trigger. If you do a search here on the forum, you will see that there are several options from several forums sponsors. Springer Precision is one of them...
