XD9 Tactical, first time out

Got a chance to take my new XD9 tactical out today for the firs time. Was on open lad with some friends so I was just some glass bottles. Now I am new to shooting so not the best but managed to hit my share of bottles! I find that I am shooting low which prob means I am anticipating the recoil so I will have to work on that. I was very pleased with the XD and managed to put 300 rounds through it with only 1 FTE. But that was when someone else was shooting it and he had already had one FTE on his berreta earlier so I think it was something he was doing. Hope to get to the the range and actually shoot at a target so I can better see where I am hitting compared to aiming.

Congratulations on the new XD Tactical. I just got back from a match in which I shot mine.

May I make a friendly suggestion? Please don't shoot glass bottles. If you don't have proper targets shoot cans. Shattered bottles just make a nasty mess.

Will do!

Where is a good place to buy proper targets? Or is there a way to make them?

There are places on the internet where you can download them and print them off on a printer. I do this a lot. Just do a search on "printable targets". Also, someone on the forum gave the idea to use 8 inch paper plates as targets. I will try this, as the center mass on IDPA targets are 8 inches also. Both ways are very cheap. I have several types of printable pistol targets saved to my computer. So before I go to the range, I just print some off.

Thanks, I will look for those. Get free printing at work so this will be totally free! Now I just have to build a stand.

Most sporting goods store have a decent selection, but I buy most of mine from Target Barn. You can find them online at Target Barn. Happy shooting!
