XD SubCompact
Hi all! I'm a new owner of a brand new XD SubCompact 3" 9mm and had it on the range for the first time today. I was wondering how accurate the gun would be. I was using Blazer 115gr 9mm brass. I would shoot two clips at a time and then reload. At 7 yards it seemed that my first 3 shots of the clip were 3-4" left and low of center. The 4-20 rounds were 2" left of center. I am normally a shotgun guy and this is my first pistol. Is this normal to be this off or do you think it is user error. I do understand that a shorter barrel is going to be less accurate, but like I said I am new to pistols and am just looking for more info! I bought the gun for ccw not competition of course so I understand it's not going to be dead accurate.
Also, any good ideas with IWB holsters for the subc? Last edited by jdmatt42 : 04-13-2008 at 10:26 AM. |

Your groupings are normal for a new XD shooter. The 9sc is capable of shooting 4" inch groups at 25 yards, but don't expect to do that right out of the gate. Knocking plates down at 25 yards is a piece of cake for the 9sc.
For finger placement on the trigger you want to have the trigger between fingertip and first knuckle. And don't grip too hard with your gun hand. It just takes practice, practice, practice! As for holsters there are several good ones for ccw. Personally, I am partial to the Crossbreeds. I have a Quickclip. It is unbelievably comfortable evern after 16hours of wear. Check them out at: CROSSBREED.com. They are a site sponsor, too.

Hello everybody, I have a XD sub-compact when I first started shooting mine I shoot low and to the left. Know that I have shoot it more it shoots to point of aim everytime I love it. About holsters I use a Galco model st0444 IWB and it works great for me hope this helps...

I shot the exact same way the first time out with my xd9sc. Once you get some reps with the trigger pull you will be able to hit dead on at 7 yards and beyond. I really like my Crossbreed Supertuck for IWB. I can wear it all day, sit down on the couch, drive on road trips without a problem.

What ammo would anyone suggest using. I used the cheapest they had at the range. I just wanted to get some rounds through.

ammo
I also just buy the cheap target ammo from walmart. Blazer brass or winchester in the value packs. Then keep them loaded with better stuff when carrying, speer gold dot or fed law inforcement..

Glad to hear you like it. I am about to get this pistol as well. I have no experience with a holster for it, but I do have some CompTac holsters and I LOVE them. Check 'em out comptac.com

I think all of us XD Sub users had a few issues when it came to shooting where you point. I started with a XD 9 Service and now use a XD 40 SC. I shoot low and left but now...its great!!!! As far as a holster goes.....I hear gr8 things about Comp-Tac MTAC and CTAC as well as Crossbreed. I currently use a Galco Matrix M7X and it conceals very well. I dont like that there is very little cant to it but it is overall very good...Plus you can pick one up on Ebay for $15 - $20.
