FTF at round #872...for real this time

Basically I went to the range today with my father and a co-worker, and because I didnt want to have any ammo in my car while it was in the parking lot at work, I had to buy some at the range when I got there. I picked up some dirt cheap Lake City .45ACP ammo. The guy behind the counter said that I should not be suprissed if I have a FTF or two because the primers are very hard and don't like striker fired handguns. Well sure enough, at the second to last round in my first magazine, all I got was a "tick". Knew what happened right away. Just thought I would share, but besides this one incident that I attribute to bad ammo, my XD has performed flawlessly.

Did you try to fire the round a second time? If so, did it fire that time?

Stoopid question time.... what does FTF mean? Fail to Feed or Fail To Fire ?

I've seen it used both ways, does it mean both?

I have had some of those with my reloads, I guess I'll chalk it up to "don't use those primers again!" and BTW, it did fire the second time.

FTF is both Fail to Feed and Fail to Fire and only understood by the context unless stated. The proper convention in literature is to write it the long way the first time and then use the initials after that, but we internet users do not bow to convention.

BRAVO, BRAVO Thank you for your post Don. For me, and likely for many others especially when they are new, your point is right on TARGET I am struggling to understand many posts because of the use of acronyms with which I am unfamiliar.

I respectfully request, and strongly encourage, other members take Don's post to heart. Please remember, you were new at one time and had to learn. We can each help others with a little courtesy and not much effort.

Thank you.

(Another reason the glossary of acronyms brought up recently would be helpful.)
