Firm up your grip Nancy, and call Springfield about your mags, they should change them for free.

search the forums for some grip demonstrations, using those improved my felt recoil, and also got my thumbs away from the slide lock which was causing it to lock open prematurely.

Also, I use a Birchwood-Casey Gun-Reel Silicone Cloth on the mags and the magwell. That way they aren't wet, but they slide in and out easier.

You can also spray and wipe them down with remington dri-lube, pretty much the same thing. I wipe them down with the cloth as well the the exterior of the slide since I carry I like to keep the outside lubed and protected regularly, but oil just gets wiped right off.

we all have such different ways of holding on to our guns.

I hold my thumb down low, almost pressing the mag release, and i have a hard time getting my support hand on my grip because my thumb is in the way.

Well do I really feel like a right tool now:

After playing around with the gun at home I noticed there's nothing wrong with the magazines, the problem is in my head. Well, sort of...

The magazines, both, drop free perfectly when the slide is in the forward position. Neither drops free when the slide is locked back but they can be removed by pressing the magazine release and just taking the magazine out.

I presume this is the case with all XD's and HS guns, right? That they are designed NOT to drop the magazine when the slide is locked back.

As for the limp wristing problem, I read the Combat Handgun Grip-article, thanks for posting it! Had a lot of info there and Brian Enos' method seems to feel comfortable for me. Got to try it out at the range first though but that won't be until Thursday (this week's or next). Will report back then if I've managed to surpass the Nancy stage.

The mag should drop free when the slide is locked back, and it actually should be easier to push the mag release button than when the mag is fully loaded and the slide is forward

Another observation:

When the slide is locked back and the mag is empty the mag does drop free when magrelease is pressed. However, if there is a round in the magazine the magazine will not drop free but has to be taken out by hand. The gun seems to "latch on" to a full mag when the slide is locked back but if the slide is forward the mag drops free regardless of whether there's a round chambered, a full mag or an empty mag. When the slide is locked back an empty mag will fall out just fine but with a round or several in the magazine it won't fall out unless I take it out by hand.

I e-mailed about this to the importer of the HS guns here to ask if they know anything about this and they said they'll ask their own gunsmith what he thinks. We'll see...
