RANGE REPORT NEW XD9sc w/Pics!
FINALLY! I was able to make it out to the range last night to try out the new XD9sc.
First Impressions: WOW! I'd done alot of research on the XD's before I made the choice to buy one, and had the chance to shoot a few as well. Every gun had pros/cons with the XD being no exception. Stories are that - stories. Everybody can have issues. But IMHP....in round #1 - this gun dimissed all of them! I put 300rnds of Winchester 115FMJ target ammo downrange at 8-10yrds with NOT ONE missfire - mag jam - stovepipe - NOTHING! ZERO! ZIP! The gun performed flawlessly and the sights were IMO - DEAD-ON. I bench tested about 50+ rounds in to see if I was imagining it. - Nope. I've put over 1200+ rounds thru my Beretta 92FS since Oct07' and didn't have this much success/fun in overall consistant shot placement! The XD shoots better and feels better in my hand. So everybody wants pics: ![]() ![]() Target#6 (orange) was my "double tap" experiment. (targets 3-5 were variations of grip/stance/one-handed and were really inconsistant so I left them out) BOTTOM LINE - ME LIKES!!!!!

I just took my XD 9 SC to te range for the first time the other day. Put 120 rounds through it. It has a considerable amount of rounds in it before I traded for it.
I did't expect any misfires and I wasn't surprised. It bangs louder than my P30 but my controllability seems to be a bit different, I guess I'm used to striker fired guns and getting used to the p30 I will have it down. I am more accurate with the P30 when I take my time and squeeze. When shooting accelerated I think I did better with the XD. All at 21 feet. I will probably still carry the P30 most of the time (as it is winter most of the time here in MI) but in hot summer on the motorcycle the XD will win. The fact that it is pretty worn is attractive to me as it is probably the ugliest gun ever but has character. I liked the trigger infinately more than the glock, and the grip position also. I didn't mind the grip safety though I am 100% against them. (just think they are a bit dumb but it's just my opinion, has nothing to do with "another thing that could break") Even with it I still won't carry this gun with one in the chamber, as I wouldn't with the glock, the P30 is chambere and decocked though as the DA pull is about as hard as a push up with rosie o'donnel sitting on your back. A documented police station near me had 3 accidental discharges in the first week with the XD's after they switched from glocks. Two holstering 1 placing the pisol in their locker. But like I said I didn't notice it so it is a non issue. The block shape of it makes it comfy in the small of my back IWB, but that won't fly on the cycle, too much attention though open carry is legal here. All in all good trade, happy with it probably won't sell like I intended when I traded for it! |

"A documented police station near me had 3 accidental discharges in the first week with the XD's after they switched from glocks. Two holstering 1 placing the pisol in their locker."
When and where did this happen? Given that the XD cannot fire unless the grip safety and the trigger safety are depressed, this sounds highly questionable. BTW, cuptz71, nice shooting and welcome to the group!

I heard this too. According to the report, deputies Fife, Pyle and Campbell all had accidents when Sheriff Taylor accidentally gave them more than one round of ammunition at a time. They also reported; Deputy Campbell had been drinking, deputy Fife was singing "Juanita" on the phone while handling his weapon and deputy Pyle's only response to questioning was "sha-zam."
