First Time Shooting the New XD40
Well, not my first time shooting my new XD, but the first time i shot it right handed ( my dominant hand). I bought my XD while my right hand was broken, this is my first pistol. I put about 300 rounds through it left handed in the mean time just to hear the gun go "bang". After my cast came off and my hand was strong, my father, a SFPD officer, took me to the police range where they gave me some instruction on trigger control. Man did it work!!! i was putting groups of 5 or 10 in like 3"( or smaller) groups my first time shooting the XD with my right hand! I even put 5 bullets through 3 holes more than once!! (and no i didnt miss the target!!)
This gun is accurate, trigger control is key! Im used to doing wingshooting with a shotgun where you just yank back on the trigger to shoot, shooting pistols accurately is very different, you have to be very much "in control" of your trigger pull. I had loads of fun! My friend is picking up his new gun today (baby eagle .45acp) and we should be at the range again tonight or tomorrow night! The shots at the small dots to the left and right of the head were 10 round magazines (the small dots are the size of a quarter). The rest of the groups i made small circles with chalk to get the most of my targets, and I shot 5 shots at each. Nice grouping for a fist timer eh? The target on the left, the left dot was my first warm up, at 3 yards, the dot on the right of the left target was my second warm up at 5 yards. The rest were all from 7 yards. ![]() Here is another target, 10 shots at the center, the rest are 5, shot very slowly concentrating on trigger control and breathing fundamentals. ![]() Last edited by 91TurboTSi : 03-10-2008 at 11:21 AM. |

Nice shooting so what will your next model XD be? You know you want one don't you. Just about the time you fall completely in love with your current Xd you will be wanting another one, happens all the time just ask somebody here on the forum.

I want a .45 acp bad already!!! I shot my friends .45acp baby eagle and i like the recoil on it a lot more, its a solid feeling shot, but its not all muzzle snappy like the .40
Before all that i have to get my car ready for this drag racing season and buy a new shotgun for duck hunting/ sporting clays. Im looking at a beretta urika 2, maybe a walmart special al390 silver mallard. Thanks for the warm welcoming! |

Nice groupings, I keep forgetting to take my camera to the range with me. I just got back from shooting my XD40 SC for the first time. I am so ****ing happy with it! the kick is easy to control, (easier than my FEG 380) it shoots straiter, and it feels better in my hand. Since it is basically the same size as my FEG 380 it is also just as easy to conceal! I am in love with this gun and am planing on owning an XD45 as soon as I can.

thanks! Im on my 2nd dsm. Had a gst, and got sick of buying tires so i bought my talon awd. Its officially got a 4-bolt in it now since I lost the 3-bolt at the track last year on a 5500rpm studderbox launch! haha The 6-bolt is all built with forged internals and im pretty much going to finish up tuning my small 16g that came with the car when i bought it (my stock turbo) then slap on a 50trim or 30r since i have all the supporting mods and shoot for 11's! Looks like you've upgraded to an EVO though! Nice, i cant wait until they day when i have enough money to get one as my new toy. Im only 21 now, so im pretty broke, but Ive got the job that should be able to get me one in the next few years. Modificationvt, I didnt need to bring my camera with me to the range, I brought these targets home i was so proud of em!!! The XD's sure are great. I want to meet someone with a .45acp and try shooting that! Last week there was a power outage and a neighbor caught someone hopping their fence trying to get into the house and their dog scared em off so my parents have been paranoid about someone maybe trying to break into our house (because its honestly really easy) so i told em i'd just put a target in each upstairs window as a deterrant! haha |
